  • Tom Hiddleston first used a knife in 2017's "Thor: Ragnarok"
  • The next and final episode of "Loki" will stream on Disney+ on July 14
  • The actor is currently filming a mini-series called "The Essex Serpent"

Tom Hiddleston, who is known for playing Loki in several Marvel projects, spoke about the anti-hero's famous knife trick after the recent episode of "Loki" dropped Wednesday.

"Take no offense, my friends, but blades are worthless in the face of a Loki's sorcery," Classic Loki (Richard E. Grant) said in the latest episode. In response, Boastful Loki (DeObia Oparei) said, "But they look awesome."

Following the release of this episode, Hiddleston told Entertainment Weekly in an interview Thursday about Loki's love daggers and where his signature knife trick originated. The 40-year-old actor said he had improvised the move on the set of "Thor: Ragnarok," which was released in 2017.

"We were doing that run, it was an afternoon, and it was myself and Idris and maybe Taika. I can't remember," Hiddleston said. "Definitely Idris was there, and it was a two-shot of us fighting these fantastic athletes that are the stunt guys."

According to Hiddleston, he "ran out of choreography" at that time. "Basically, I think I finished my moves before Idris, and he was still rolling, and I didn't want to just be standing there like a lemon, not doing anything interesting. So I just flipped the knives, and caught them by chance," he explained.

The scene was featured in the teaser trailer of "Thor: Ragnarok" in slow-motion. Unfortunately, it didn't make it to the final cut of the movie.

Hiddleston said he had tried to do it again but to no avail. "Every time I try to do it with wooden spoons, it never works, and I always drop one. So it was one of those things, but lightning never strikes twice," he said.

In the recently dropped episode of the "Loki" series, the character's weapon has been upgraded from a knife to a sword. It appears to be the same weapon called Lævateinn in Marvel Comics.

In the episode, Kid Loki (Jack Veal) gives Loki the sword to fight against Alioth, who is a self-proclaimed "Supreme Time Being."

The next episode of "Loki" will arrive next Wednesday on Disney+ and mark the end of the "Loki" series.

Hiddleston is currently filming a mini-series called "The Essex Serpent," which is based on Sarah Perry's novel with the same title. He will also lend his voice to Marvel's animated series "What If...?" It is slated for release in August.
