  • In a statement, Jordan said Mynett confirmed he "had an affair with Ilhan Omar"

The messy and complicated love life of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who gained fame as one of four members of hard-left group nicknamed "The Squad," exploded into the public consciousness with the wife of her alleged lover accusing her of being an adulteress and destroying her marriage.

Omar was verbally assailed by Beth Jordan, ex-wife of Omar's alleged lover, Tim Mynett, during a 16-minute divorce court hearing at a Superior Court in Washington D.C. The hearing formalized the divorce between Mynett, who is Omar's campaign fundraiser strategist, and Jordan.

Mynett, 38, and Jordan, 55, separated in April after over 15 years of being together. They have a 13-year-old son and had been living together for six years before getting married in 2012, the Daily Mail reported.

The divorce hearing ended abruptly when Jordan blasted Omar as an adulteress after requesting Judge Darlene Soltys she be allowed to make a statement. In this statement, she confirmed her husband "had an affair with Ilhan Omar."

Soltys then stopped her from talking further and called both lawyers. Soltys then congratulated Mynett and Jordan for reaching a settlement.

"I sit in this courtroom day after day and see people who just fight about anything. It's not in anyone's best interest," the judge noted.

Mynett was visibly overjoyed in the end. He left the court grinning and clapping his hands in glee. He said he was happy with the proceedings.

In her divorce papers, Jordan said Mynett told her he was in love with Omar and that their marriage collapsed when he revealed he was "romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar."

In his own divorce papers, Mynett said he had only agreed to marry Jordan when she threatened to kick him out of their Washington home and make it difficult for him to see their son. He claimed their marriage had been "a rollercoaster of highs and lows." He also said he had never really loved Jordan and told her so in their final heart-to-heart, Daily Mail noted.

Rumors that Omar, 38, was having an affair with Mynett began to gain strength after she divorced her husband in July. If anything, Omar's love life is even more complicated than Mynett's.

She became engaged to Ahmed Abdisalan Hirsi in 2002 and had a faith-based marriage. They had two children together. Omar said they divorced within their faith tradition in 2008.

In 2009, Omar married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen but divorced him in 2011. She reconciled with Hirsi that same year and gave birth to their third child in 2012.

Elmi and Omar were legally divorced in 2017 and in 2018, Omar and Hirsi were legally married. On Oct. 7, 2019, Omar filed for divorce from Hirsi, citing an "irretrievable breakdown" of the marriage.
