Jerry Seinfeld, who has no idea who Kesha is, took Twitter by storm after a video surfaced showing him denying the singer a hug. On Monday night, Seinfeld attended the National Night of Laughter and Song event at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. when Kesha approached him during an interview with radio host Tommy McFly.

In the clip, Kesha interrupted Seinfeld while he was talking to McFly and said, "Oh my gosh I love you so much" which was followed by the awkward moment. She popped the big question of "Can I give you a hug?" to which Seinfeld replied, "No, thanks."

Despite the turn-down, Kesha was persistent and asked him again, and again, for a hug but her requests were turned down.

Just when the 30-year-old popstar walked away, Seinfeld said: "I don't know who that was." McFly clears up telling the comedian the woman who approached him was Kesha.

Despite being denied a hug by Seinfeld, the night was still "a dream come true" for Kesha as she received a hug from another idol of hers, musician Ben Folds.

"I used to sneak into Ben Folds shows when I was 15 years old and stand way in the back and scream every word at the top of my lungs. I climbed really really tall chain link dangerous fences. I greased door men. I lost shoes and drove hours over state lines on school nights to catch a glimpse of this legend. Can't believe he's my friend. and such a wonderful soul. Some say that you shouldn't meet your hero's. Sometimes that's true. Not in this case. I couldn't have been more lucky. Thanks for tonight," Kesha captioned a photo of her with Folds.

While sharing another photo of her, Kesha wrote she was happy she got a chance to perform Monday night at the event.

"Lots to smile about i'm very happy i got to perform tonight with my buddy who is kind and humble and talented @murkanpianist !!!!!!! ben folds is my f----- hero, being talented and nice is the winning combo, and more rare than you'd think. i'm so grateful he always makes me feel good about myself. and my voice. love love love love love," she wrote.

Below are some Twitter reactions to Kesha's awkward moment of not being recognized by Seinfeld.

"For some reason I can't stop watching Jerry Seinfeld shut down Kesha's hug. It's the most Seinfeld thing I've ever seen," one user wrote. While another said: "Don't make a deal out of Jerry Seinfeld refusing a hug, okay? If we're going to talk about consent, it's across the board. Relax."

This isn’t the first time Seinfeld shot down requests from a famous fan. Last November, the 63-year-old denied “Flipping Out” star Jenni Poulos' request for a selfie.
