While on the scene of the crime, authorities discovered that the 44-year-old woman stabbed the 48-year-old man 11 times in the chest, said the New York Daily News, citing a police source.

The apartment's supervisor, Rafael Fermin told the outlet the victim had a troubled history and can often be seen “laid out in front of the building” after a night of drinking.

The woman, on the other hand, “was always dressed like she went to work.”

Fermin knew something was wrong when he heard someone screaming for help. He went downstairs and saw the man bleeding on the floor.

A neighbor tried to help the man but to no avail.

“I couldn't tell how many times he was stabbed,” Fermin said.

EMS rushed the man to St. Luke's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The woman, later identified as Tracey McCarter, was arrested and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Charges against her are pending, according to PIX 11.
