A pet dog saved his owner from a cobra by barking at the right time. The incident took place in the southern Thai province of Trang last week.

Speaking to local media, the owner, identified as 35-year-old Winai Sangtip, said he was sitting in his living room and watching television Thursday night when his pet dog started barking. He initially ignored it. However, when the canine started barking loudly, the owner opened the back door only to find a large snake curling under the washing machine.

The shocked owner immediately informed the local volunteer rescue foundation. The volunteers arrived at the scene and rescued the snake. The reptile was put in a cage and released into the woods the following morning. The snake was identified as a cobra.

The incident comes less than a month after the life of a farmer was saved by his pet dogs in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Ramalingam was working in his farm when a six-foot-long Russel’s viper approached him. When the reptile was about to attack him, his three dogs “attacked the snake in turns” till it died. One of the canines was bitten by the snake and was given anti-venom.
