Sadie Robertson, the reality TV figure from the Robertson family of “Duck Dynasty,” has been making waves as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars.” For the past four weeks, the 17-year-old has been performing at the top of the pack with her partner Mark Ballas. Despite her recent success, her appearance on Monday night's episode of the series caused a stir, not for her dancing skills, but for her decision to stick up for her reality show family.

In her pre-performance video on Monday's episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” Sadie addressed the controversy that surrounded her family after her grandfather made some ill-received remarks in a GQ interview. "The thing is, no matter what he would have said, we should have stuck by him, because he's my grandpa. Yeah, he's very opinionated, but he's my family, and family sticks together," she said.

Sadie also talked about dealing with the success of “Duck Dynasty" when it started, saying, “I was 14 and I didn't realize how big it was going to be, but there's definitely been some bad things about being in the public eye."

Is the Robertson family supporting Sadie with the same enthusiasm? It seems so. Much of the family was on hand Monday night to play a part in Sadie’s performance, and her father, Willie Robertson (who is known for his conservative views on female dress) even approved of her outfit, telling E! Online, “Anything with feathers is cool and stones and rocks. Yeah, I mean it's real earthy. I like it!”

Sadie is emerging as a contender to win this season of “Dancing with the Stars.” If she does, it will be with her family right behind her every step of the way.
