Things have been pretty quiet concerning the upcoming 27th season of “Dancing With the Stars,” but with only a month to go until the series returns to ABC, fans are kicking their hunt for celebrity participants into high gear.

“DWTS” returns on Monday, Sept. 24, but so far, ABC hasn’t mentioned any specific news regarding the pros and celebs who would be participating, focusing instead on introducing the new panel of judges, the hosts, the mentors and the pros who would be participating on the new sister series, “Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.”

A cast has not been explicitly confirmed for that series either, though there have been rumors of exactly which celebrity kids are participating and who they’re partnered up with. When it comes to the show featuring adults giving it a try, however, very little has been said. However, that hasn’t stopped a little bit of speculation from taking hold, with a few names being floated around, though nothing has been confirmed.

A Hollywood Life report previously claimed that ABC was heavily courting Omarosa Manigault-Newman to appear on the series following her exit from the White House last December. The report has not been explicitly refuted, but it’s unclear how valid it may be. However, another name being floated does have a little more credibility, and that participant could be a likely contender.

According to Life and Style, there is a chance that Becca Kufrin’s runner-up from “The Bachelorette,” Blake Horstmann, could be on the new season of “DWTS.” The website notes that Horstmann, who is also a fan favorite to be the next “Bachelor,” followed the show on Instagram (and then unfollowed it), and he’s even liked any comments fans make on his social media posts which reference him being on the show.

A representative from ABC refused to comment on the news when asked by the tabloid, stating “We don’t comment or confirm casting rumors. We will be announcing the cast in September.”

If Horstmann is a lead contender for “The Bachelor,” then it is unlikely he would be able to do “DWTS,” as he wouldn’t have time in his schedule to film both shows. However, it also wouldn’t be unprecedented for someone from the franchise who was rejected to participate on the sister show. While traditionally, the men who have recently finished a stint as “The Bachelor” have gone on to compete on “Dancing,” Melissa Rycroft went on to be a part of the show’s eighth season, directly after she was dumped by Jason Mesnick on his “After the Rose” special. She placed third then, and went on to win the fifteenth season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

As for other names, most are just ones from fan wish lists. Traditionally, ABC reveals the cast approximately two weeks before the new season begins, so fans will need to continue waiting for confirmed news for the time being.

“Dancing With the Stars” Season 27 premieres Monday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
