New details have developed in the murder of JonBenét Ramsey case. Gary Oliva, 54, who is currently serving 10 years in a Colorado prison for child pornography, has reportedly admitted in letters to a friend that he killed the 6-year-old beauty pageant queen by accident, the Daily Mail reports.

In a letter obtained by DailyMailTV, Oliva, a registered sex offender, allegedly wrote: “I never loved anyone like I did JonBenét and yet I let her slip and her head bashed in half and I watched her die. It was an accident. Please believe me. She was not like the other kids.”

In another letter, he wrote, “JonBenét completely changed me and removed all evil from me. Just one look at her beautiful face, her glowing beautiful skin, and her divine God-body, I realized I was wrong to kill other kids. Yet by accident she died and it was my fault.”

The letters were sent to Michael Vail, a former classmate of Oliva’s who has long suspected his involvement in the murder of JonBenét. Vail said kept in contact with Oliva, who is serving time in Limon Correctional Facility in Colorado, with the hope that he would confess. Vail told the outlet that he thinks the letters are the proof he needs to get him charged with the crime.

The letters do not explain why Oliva was possibly at the Ramsey home the night that JonBenét was murdered but he was using an address 10 blocks from the home at the time, the Daily Mail reports.

Boulder, Colorado, police have been presented the letters with the alleged confession from Oliva but have yet to comment on the status of the investigation.

Oliva was arrested for having child pornography on his phone in 2016. The phone included hundreds of photos, some of JonBenét, at the time. Oliva is slated for parole in October 2020.

Investigators have considered Oliva, as well as other male suspects, may have broken into the Ramsey home the night that JonBenét was murdered in 1996. While the ransom note that demanded $118,000 does not match the handwriting of Oliva, but it has been speculated that he had an accomplice, according to the Daily Mail.

No one has been charged with the death of JonBenét.
