A 39-year-old man allegedly kicked a woman onto train tracks at an Illinois station just as a train was bearing down. The victim managed to jump on her feet and escape before the approaching train came to a halt.

The suspect, Ashley Goss, was arrested in Chicago for pushing 23-year-old Prisilla Rodriguez onto the CTA Red Line tracks at around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to WTTW News.

Rodriguez reportedly fell head-first onto the tracks and barely missed getting electrocuted by the third rail. The victim quickly got back on her feet and rushed to the area between two different train tracks to avoid getting struck by the approaching train. The incoming train also stopped in time and avoided a tragedy.

"I felt, like, a big push on my back. At first, I thought like, I can't believe this is happening," Rodriguez told a CBS 2 reporter. "I fell down and I got up super-quick. I don't even know I got up that fast."

"It's just crazy that I did like a flip in midair - and it's like – it was just surreal," she added. The victim said she did not know Goss prior to the attack.

While standing between the train tracks, Rodriguez saw the figure of her attacker and could hear him blaming her.

"He was just saying it was my fault; I tried to commit suicide," Rodriguez said in the interview. "He called me the B word for no reason; tried to convince people on the platform, because there was other people on the same platform as me."

Rodriguez suffered a cut on her forehead but is otherwise in good condition.

Goss, who also goes by the name Donald Jackson, left the station following the attack. Officials used surveillance footage from the station and Chicago Avenue to track down the suspect at a Taco Bell restaurant.

Chicago police arrested Goss just before 10:15 a.m. Tuesday.

A court heard Wednesday that the suspect has a criminal history spanning over two decades and was involved in at least two aggravated battery incidents, according to ABC7.

"Why is this guy not locked up? Why isn't this guy somewhere longer? Why isn't he watched more?" Rodriguez asked, according to CBS 2. "Why is he out still doing this to people?"

Goss was charged with first-degree attempted murder and is being held without bond. The court ordered a mental-health check to evaluate whether he is fit to stand for trial.
