A 20-year-old woman has been arrested after she hired a hitman to kill her lover by offering him cash and sex.

Police said the victim, Chandu Mahapur, was murdered last Thursday in the Indian town of Nagpur. The man was having an extra-marital relationship with the woman, local television channel Times Now reported.

The woman had promised to pay INR 1.50 lakh ($ 2,037) to a contract killer, Bharat Gurjar, and have sex with him after the murder, police said. She decided to take the drastic step as Mahapur was objecting to her plans to get married.

The hitman, who had some monetary disputes with Mahapur, approached him and invited him to have liquor. They went to Salaimendha, a small village near Nagpur, where Gurjar smashed the victim's head. He also slit the victim's throat to confirm his death. Gurjar then took the body to an abandoned mine in the village and dumped it there.

Gurjar is also Mahapur's friend and a distant relative. He was arrested before he could collect the cash from the woman. Police cracked the case with the help of CCTV footage that showed Gurjar and the victim traveling on a bike.

The woman's parents were also arrested for planning and executing the murder.

Last year in the U.S., a woman was arrested for killing her boyfriend by running over him with her car after he decided to break up with her. The victim, 42-year-old James Dutter from Nevada, was lying on the ground with lacerations to his forehead, left elbow, right forearm and abrasions to his hip when police and paramedics found him. He told the police that he was run over by his girlfriend after he decided to end their relationship.

In another case, a Florida man recently pleaded guilty to mutilating the genitals of his wife's lover after he caught them having sex. Alex Bonilla, a father of five, was jailed for the July 2019 attack after being charged with kidnapping, burglary and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
