A woman killed her eight-year-old son with the help of her lover after the boy caught the duo in a compromising position. The incident took place in the Indian city of Hyderabad on Sunday evening.

Police arrived at the lover’s home and found the body of the boy in the home. The man and the mother of the boy, identified as 35-year-old Sultana Begum, were taken into custody. During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime and said the boy, who was physically challenged, had caught them in a compromising position following which they decided to kill him.

“They suspected that the boy could become an obstacle to their relationship,” police said, adding that the duo first strangled him before punching him continuously in the chest till he died. The duo then took the boy to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

They then decided to take the body to the man’s home and were planning to dispose of it in the night. However, neighbors grew suspicious and alerted the police.

Police said the couple was in a relationship for the past few months and Begum had two other children who “were in a state of shock” following the incident.
