A 22-year-old New York man allegedly stabbed and killed his father and 12-year-old sister while his 9-year-old brother witnessed the crime.

On the night of Sept. 19, troopers responded to a stabbing incident at a residence in Jordanville, a hamlet of Warren in New York.

Responding officers located 67-year-old Michael J. Andreev Sr. and his daughter, Sofia Trusova, who had been stabbed. Both the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, according to Associated Press.

Michael J. Andreev Jr. was found by the troopers in the front yard of his house. He was immediately considered as a suspect, said Troopers.

The suspect had a laceration on his neck and was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Upon his discharge, the Troopers arrested him.

At the time of the stabbing, the suspect’s 9-year-old brother was inside the house. The minor witnessed his elder brother fatally stabbing their father and their sister, said state police spokesperson Trooper Jack Keller to the Syracuse Post-Standard.

It is unclear if the boy sustained any injuries during the altercation.

According to a GoFundMe page, the suspect had two other brothers, who took emergency leaves to be with the family. Stefan Andreev, 20, who is attending the American University in Bulgaria and Christian Andreev, 18, who was in his fifth week of Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base are currently caring for the 9-year-old.

“This act of violence was a shock to the family, the local Jordanville community, and the entire Russian Orthodox Community,” stated the family on the GoFundMe page.

Police have not yet released the motive behind the crime. Troopers are still investigating the crime.

Andreev Jr. is being held in the Herkimer County Correctional Facility without bail. He has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

In June, a 19-year-old Massachusetts man was arrested for allegedly drowning his father in a pond while attempting to “baptize” him and “exorcise a demon from his body.” The suspect’s mother called the police after he returned home wet and without his father. According to the autopsy report, the victim had water in his lungs and had an abrasion on the back of his head.
