Which U.S. network will release episodes of “Absentia?” Sony Pictures Television Networks

The official premiere dates for Stana Katic’s upcoming series, “Absentia,” in various countries other than the United States have just been released.

According to TV Line, the 10-episode show will premiere in Spain, Portugal and Romania on Sept. 25, Hungary and Poland on Sept. 26 and Bulgaria on Sept. 27. “Absentia” will also be released in Russia on Oct. 2 and Czech/Slovakia, Bosnia/Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia on Oct. 11. The series will premiere in Brazil and Latin America in November.

Along with the premiere dates, Sony Pictures Television Networks also announced that the official home for “Absentia” in the United States will be revealed in the coming weeks. A similar claim already made headlines in July when the company revealed they are close to securing a deal with a network in the country.

“Absentia” follows the life of an FBI agent named Emily Byrne (Katic), who is accused of having a hand in her own mysterious disappearance when she returns to her family after several years. Initially, Emily’s husband and son think that she was murdered, but she will reunite with them years later. Unfortunately, a lot of things have changed, and Emily’s husband has already moved on with another woman. In addition, her son no longer remembers her.

Meanwhile, the production for all 10 episodes of “Absentia” wrapped up in July. All installments were filmed within 62 days. The series also received a straight to series order from Sony Pictures Television Networks’ AXN. In May, “Absentia” was showcased at the 57th Monte Carlo Television Festival.

At the time, CEO Laurent Puons expressed his excitement over Katic’s new show, as well as her and her co-stars’ casting. “With its acclaimed cast and crew, alongside its intriguing premise, I’m certain ‘Absentia’ will prove huge hit with international audiences,” he said.

Katic previously starred in ABC’s hit drama, “Castle,” alongside Nathan Fillion for eight seasons. In the series, Katic gave life to the character of Kate Beckett. Toward the end of the show, Beckett and Fillion’s character, Richard Castle, tied the knot and started their own lives.
