Activision and Infinity Ward teased the return of a fan favorite character with a new short video for the second season of content for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.”

The video was posted on the official “Call of Duty” Twitter account to help set up the new season of content players will get to enjoy. At the heart of the video was the teased return of Simon Riley, better known as Ghost, as an operator for “Modern Warfare’s” multiplayer.

A new map was also teased in the short video, with some eagle-eyed commenters saying it looked very similar to the “Modern Warfare 2” multiplayer map “Rust.”

Ghost was first introduced in the single-player campaign for 2009’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.” He served as a member of the elite operations squad, Task Force 141, hunting down the villainous Makarov as World War 3 broke out between Russia and the U.S. He was eventually betrayed and killed, along with most of 141, by the team’s former ally in the U.S. Army, General Shepherd.

Ghost’s return was teased at the end of the campaign for 2019’s reboot, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” as Capt. Price ran down a list of candidates for the new task force that included fan favorite characters Soap and Gaz.

His popularity loosely inspired 2013’s “Call of Duty: Ghosts,” where the player joined an elite unit sporting similar appearances to the popular character.
