Andrew Garfield has opened up about grieving his late mother, Lynn Garfield, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2019.

Garfield, 38, talked about his relationship with his late mother during his recent appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." He also shared why he believes crying is a beautiful thing.

"I love talking about her, by the way, so if I cry, it's only a beautiful thing," Garfield told Colbert. "This is all the unexpressed love, the grief that will remain with us until we pass because we never get enough time with each other, no matter if someone lives until 60, 15, or 99."

The actor further explained, "I hope this grief stays with me because it's all the unexpressed love that I didn't get to tell her. And I told her every day – we all told her every day. She was the best of us."

The show's official Twitter handle posted a video of the conversation on the platform.

In response to it, many fans took to the comments section to share their own stories about coping with the loss of a loved one. Apparently, many found the actor's story relatable.

One of the fans wrote, "Yes! I lost my Dad this year too and i love talking about him, all the time. The death part is painful but when we were so close to a person & have so much value for someone, we want to keep sharing their story after they're gone."

Another fan wrote about how he has been experiencing the same thing in life after losing someone recently. The same person said he was glad the actor spoke about his experience.

The actor also talked about his newly released movie "Tick, Tick… Boom!"

"This film is to do with this ticking clock that we all have," he said. "I got to sing Jonathan Larson's unfinished song while simultaneously singing for my mother and her unfinished song."

"Tick, Tick… Boom" is a musical drama directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The movie is an adaptation of Jonathan Larson's book released in 2001. The musical has been available on Netflix since Nov. 12.
