An elderly man has been allegedly thrashed by a biker after he reprimanded the latter for honking constantly. The victim who was gravely injured succumbed to death Thursday, police said.

The incident happened in Coimbatore, a city in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. On Wednesday, the 72-year-old victim, identified as Ponnuswamy, was on an evening walk when he confronted a biker for repeatedly honking at him. The altercation eventually ended up in a violent assault and the victim's death, The Times of India reported.

Ponnuswamy questioned the biker, identified by his first name Siva, when he was almost rammed in by his bike. Angered by this, Siva who was traveling along with his wife got out of the vehicle and slapped Ponnuswamy. The elderly man was then reportedly pushed down and brutally assaulted. Siva also reportedly threatened him before fleeing away.

“He [ Siva] also kicked Ponnusamy and threatened him with dire consequences before fleeing the spot," a police officer said, as reported by the outlet.

Marudhachalam, Ponnuswamy's son, reached the spot hearing the news and rushed the severely injured victim to a private clinic. Ponnuswamy was later shifted to a specialty hospital for treatment where he died Thursday morning.

Marudhachalam said Siva was their neighbor's son-in-law and the family knew each other. Based on Marudhachalam's complaint, a case has been registered against Siva on charges of murder. A special team has been formed to get him arrested, police said, as reported by Catch News.

The police arrested 29-year-old Dejywan Floyd of North Carolina in April on charges of first-degree murder for reportedly murdering Eberly while traveling with her husband. Eberly's SUV came close to hitting Floyd's vehicle while merging a lane on I95 north of Lumberton. Floyd reportedly got enraged and pulled his car alongside the passenger side of the Eberlys' vehicle before firing multiple shots. Eberly, a mother of six, suffered a gunshot wound and was immediately rushed to a hospital but did not survive.
