The debut of the documentary “Framing Britney Spears” has left fans of the singer furious at her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake. The special aired on FX and Hulu and explored Spear’s life and her battle to remove her father, Jamie Spears, from her conservatorship, which sparked the #FreeBritney movement in 2019.

However, fans were upset when the documentary revisited her high profile breakup with Timberlake. The stars dated for three years before splitting up in 2002.

After the breakup, Timberlake released the music video “Cry Me A River,” which featured a Spears lookalike and suggested she cheated during their relationship. Timberlake also continuously spoke about his sexual relationship with Spears in interviews.

Spears’ fans reflected on the events following the split and slammed Timberlake for damaging his ex-girlfriend’s public image.

“Just finished watching #FramingBritneySpears and I’m so glad I was a Backstreet Boys fan. Justin Timberlake made his career off of slut-shaming Britney and I’m just disgusted with the way the media came at her all those years. #FreeBritney,” one person tweeted.

Another person added, “Twenty-five minutes into the NYT Britney doc and ready to slowly pull out each of Justin Timberlake’s teeth with a wrench.”

Meanwhile, one fan revealed they never liked Timberlake and now feel justified in their decision.

“Justin Timberlake has always rubbed me the wrong way for some reason, but after watching the Britney documentary my feelings on him are confirmed,” the individual wrote.

Timberlake has not addressed the backlash he has been receiving from Spears’ fans about his post-breakup behavior since the documentary aired.
