Born into the British royal family, Prince Charles has had the luxury of traveling around the world from a very young age. While his experiences have taught him how to make the most out of his getaways, his wife, Camilla Bowles Parker doesn’t like when her husband excludes lunch from his schedule.

In the book “Queen of the World,” Robert Hardman revealed Charles prefers to skip the midday meal, a decision that impacts his staff during royal visits.

“The Duchess of Cornwall clearly disagrees, too, having become the proud patron of a charity dedicated to food and friendship that calls itself The Big Lunch,” the royal expert wrote.

In the book, the author suggested Charles’ aversion to lunch may have been caused by an overwhelming meal in the past.

“[Charles] recalls being entertained on one of his first visits to the county [of Singapore], in the days of Lee Kuan Yes, the father of the current Prime Minister,” Hardman stated.

“‘I seem to recall it was described as a ‘small lunch’ in the programme, but it turned out to include twenty courses!’”

When Charles does eat lunch, it’s typically a simple meal rather than a grand spread. “The Prince prefers a very small lunch, if there must be lunch at all, usually a quick egg sandwich in the back of the car,” Hardman explained.

Prince Charles’s decision to skip the midday meal reportedly leaves Camilla, and members of his entourage that enjoy eating lunch irritated.
