Camilla Parker Bowles recently reacted to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle’s engagement announcement.

The Duchess of Cornwall told reporters (via People) on Tuesday that she’s “absolutely thrilled” over her stepson’s engagement to the “Suits” alum. The 70-year-old wife of Prince Charles added, “America’s loss is our gain. We are all absolutely delighted. As you can see, they’re so happy. Sometimes in a climate where we’re surrounded by a lot of bad news, it’s a real joy to have a big of good news for once.”

Last month, rumors swirled that Camilla didn’t approve of Prince Harry dating Markle because she is a divorcee. A source allegedly told Life & Style, “She is spreading the word that Meghan is totally unsuitable to be a royal because she is an American.” The publication also claimed that Camilla has refused to meet Markle in person.

However, another publication claimed that Camilla and Markle are not feuding. “Markle and Bowles are not feuding, nor is Prince Harry ‘upset’ over the Duchess of Cornwall’s supposed ‘smear campaign’ against the star. It’s nothing more than a fabrication,” they wrote.

Meanwhile, Markle and Prince Harry’s engagement was officially announced by the palace on Monday. Nov. 27. On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the couple will tie the knot at St. George’s Church at Windsor Castle in May 2018. Other details about Markle’s wedding dress, jewelry and shoes will most likely be unveiled in the coming weeks.

While speaking with BBC hours after the official announcement, Prince Harry and Markle revealed that they have been engaged since early November. Prince Harry popped the question while the two were at home in Kensington Palace. Markle immediately said “yes” before the prince could finish asking his question.

Markle’s engagement ring, which was designed by Prince Harry, featured two diamonds from Princess Diana’s jewelry collection. The center diamond was sourced from Botswana, a country that’s very close to the couple.

Prince Harry and Markle went camping in the South African country. “She came and joined me for five days out there, which was absolutely fantastic,” he told BBC.
