Two men have been arrested and charged after attacking officers with an unknown chemical agent during the Capitol Riots on Jan. 6.

Julian Elie Khater, 32, of Pennsylvania, and George Pierre Tanios, 39, of Morgantown, West Virginia, brought canisters of what Khater called “bear [expletive]” to the riot, spraying Capitol police as rioters tore down barricades, CNN reported.

Among those attacked was police officer Brian Sicknick, who died the next day. Officials are still trying to determine the exact cause of death after initial reports of an attack with a fire extinguisher turned out to be false.

The FBI says that Khater went to use the pair’s chemical about an hour after the riot started, but Tanios could be seen in an open-source video telling him "Hold on, not yet ... it's still early.”

Body camera footage from a Metropolitan police officer caught Khater using the spray.

"Officers Sicknick, Edwards and Chapman, who are standing within a few feet of Khater, all react, one by one, to something striking them in the face. The officers immediately retreat from the line, bring their hands to their faces and rush to find water to wash out their eyes," FBI's account noted.

Police said the chemical was stronger than anything they encountered in training, temporarily blinding them. They needed assistance to wash it out of their eyes. Edwards suffered “lasting injuries,” including scabbing around her eyes.

Authorities had sought murder charges for those involved with Sicknick’s death, but after weeks of reviewing evidence charges have not been levied. Khater and Tanios are charged with nine counts, but there’s no mention of Sicknick’s death in their court filings.

Prosecutors have argued against granting the pair bail, saying they could flee, obstruct justice or be a danger to the community.

Images of the two men have appeared on FBI flyers for weeks. They were finally brought in after a tipster contacted the FBI and gave their names, saying the pair grew up together in New Jersey.

More than 300 people have been charged for their alleged roles in the Capitol Riots.
