  • Beyoncé donates nearly half a million dollars to families and individuals facing eviction
  • This is among the several relief initiatives launched by Queen Bey's BeyGOOD Foundation
  • Each of the 100 recipients will receive a $5,000 grant from the foundation

Just ahead of Christmas, Beyoncé and her charity BeyGOOD announced a large donation in support of families and communities impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The songstress is donating $500,000 to families and individuals facing eviction as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The announcement was made Tuesday on Beyonce's official website. This charitable act marks the second phase of the BeyGOOD Impact Fund that was initiated to provide support to people during the pandemic.

"Beyoncé is continuing her heart of support and helping where needed most," read the announcement.

Therefore, the "Diamond" singer and her charity have decided to help those who are impacted by the housing crisis amid the pandemic. Families and individuals that may not be able to fulfill mortgage and rentals due to job loss are set to receive help from Beyoncé's charitable foundation.

"The housing moratorium is set to end on December 26th, resulting in mortgage foreclosures and rental evictions. Many families are impacted, due to the pandemic that resulted in job loss, sickness, and overall economy [sic] downturn," the statement said.

The initiative aims to provide financial support to 100 recipients by donating $5,000 to each of them as they face eviction or challenges in paying the rent. All the necessary documentation must be deposited to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People as the application process begins on Jan. 7, 2021. Round 2 of donations will open in February.

With the help of their charitable activities, they aim to help some families deal with the stress during the holiday season. This is not the only philanthropic act performed by BeyGOOD during the festive season. They will soon be announcing the December recipients of the Small Business Impact Fund.

Previously, the foundation helped over 250 small businesses with a $10,000 grant. Also, it assisted organizations across the countries that were providing basic essentials to communities.

"God bless you Queen B!!! Lord knows I'm going to apply. I recently had surgery on my neck to replace my L-1 though [sic] my L-5. And skull surgery to lift my collapsed skull... God bless everyone that's trying to help people in this pandemic..." One Twitter user said.

"Talk about doing bad I don't even know where to begin I don't even have a Christmas tree but thank you Mrs Queen B [sic]. for blessing others in the time of need the world could use a billion of yourself," said another.
