“Fifty Shades Darker” Dakota Johnson learned to embrace sex toys after she portrayed virgin Anastasia Steele in E.L. James best-selling trilogy.

While she discovered the world of BDSM— Bondage, Domination, Sadism and Masochism—she realized some sex toys were classy.

“Oh some of that stuff is just so beautiful,” told the March issue of Glamour U.K. Thursday. “When we first started ‘Fifty Shades,’ that wasn’t a world I was privy to at all and I soon found out there are all these different tiers.”

But she isn’t fond of them all. “There are some things out there that are really grimy and nasty, and then there are really beautiful, intricate and chic toys,” she said. “Actually, whole aspects of the BDSM world are truly beautiful.”

Sometimes, Johnson wished she never took the role as Anastasia Steele. “It comes in waves. But this project is not going to be my swan song. It has put my life on a path that I didn’t plan to go down, but I do feel proud of it,” she said. “And the films have allowed me to do so many different projects and travel so much. In the end, ‘Fifty Shades’ has plopped me in a world that I really wanted to be in.”

While millions of people are slated to head to the theater to see the movie, there are two people who definitely won’t see it: Her parents, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.

“They haven’t [seen the movies] because it’s such a tricky thing,” she said. “It’s too uncomfortable for them. It’s one thing if a film has one sex scene in it, but with this, a large part of the premise is the arc of their [the characters’] sexual relationship and I think that’s a little inappropriate for my family to watch.”

“Fifty Shades Darker” will hit theaters nationwide Friday, Feb. 10.
