She was expected to die when she didn’t qualify for a heart transplant and Kate recovered from her shooting. However, following surgery, Julie will become aware of the surprising person who she has to thank for her being alive and having another chance on the Thursday, Oct. 17 episode of “Days of Our Lives.”

After two heart attacks, all hope seemed lost for Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes), and she was seemingly within her last days on the NBC soap. However, after Stefan (Brandon Barash) was shot and declared brain dead, Gabi (Camilla Banus) was asked to do something good with her tragedy and donate her husband’s heart. Though she initially refused because of her past with Julie, as well as the fact that Lani (Sal Stowers) was the one who shot Stefan, she eventually came around and agreed to the surgery when Lani begged her. Now, she has been left grief-stricken, aware that her husband truly is gone for good now—and Julie’s loved ones are in a celebratory mood, knowing they have her back.

Now, after she awakens from surgery, she will learn who was behind her last-minute reprieve, and needless to say, she will be shocked that the gesture came from Gabi of all people.

“Julie discovers Gabi gave her Stefan's heart,” spoilers reveal.

Whether this goes some way to actually heal the sour relationship between the two women or not remains to be seen, because while it may make Julie willing to end her feud with the younger woman, Gabi still isn’t in a good place since she is grieving the love of her life. Even worse, she will be forced to learn that Lani and Eli (Lamon Archey), now that things are okay with Julie, are set to continue their wedding plans, and she will be furious that they are planning to still have a happy ending—something she feels she was robbed of.

“Gabi is furious when she hears Eli and Lani happily making wedding plans,” spoilers state.

“Days of Our Lives” airs weekdays on NBC.
