Highly popular free-to-play MOBA “Fortnite” recently had a major event with the title “The Device.” This acted as an often-postponed conclusion to the second season, but it attracted a massive audience. This caused many players to be kept out of the event – and to be furious.

Postponing the event, according to Nintendo Life, may have contributed to this problem. The event finally happening may have contributed to a huge attraction and, naturally, a lot of fans were unable to watch it.

Fortnite’s Twitter account advised players to instead go to a Twitch Livestream to see “The Device.”

Instead of pacifying fans, the effect was on the contrary; “Fortnite’s event attracted a lot of irate fans with the anger directed towards Epic’s servers. Familiar comments included people claiming that Epic’s servers were terrible, with others saying that the postponements could’ve helped toward the company preparing for the event, which it wasn’t able to do, evidently.

This isn’t the first time that a massive event was mishandled. According to Express UK, another instance of angry people torching a company for not properly managing its servers was when "GTA V Online" went free on Epic. While Epic was not blamed for the problem that players experienced logging into the game, it was still a similar case.

The website Downdetector received reports of GTA Online complaints last May 17, with players reporting their failures in trying to get into the game. The problems lasted for three days, finally dying down when Epic offered a new free game and stopped the "GTA V Online" free promo.

In the same vein, players of "Fortnite" had reportedly queued for the event even hours beforehand, only to be kicked out from the servers as the event started. While there were detractors, there were also those who defended "Fortnite" and told people to stop blaming the game and their developers.

With the next big event for the game being the start of season three, it remains to be seen whether the server problems have died down. Fortnite’s new season will launch Wednesday after also suffering a delay.
