  • The laptop allegedly contained a series of emails showing Hunter's transactions with foreign businesses

A former Congressman on Wednesday claimed there is “direct evidence” suggesting that President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden benefitted from their son’s business foreign dealings.

During an interview on “Hannity,” Former Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, suggested that his colleague, GIA President Peter Schweizer, had found materials on a hard drive that Hunter Biden allegedly left at a computer repair shop in Delaware that proved the president was a “direct beneficiary” of his son’s business dealings.

"I do work with Peter, and what he’s done is cross-referenced some of the data from Hunter Biden’s laptop with the Secret Service records released by [Wisconsin Sen. Ron] Johnson and another business associate of Hunter Biden. So they are very careful about what they’re looking at here," Chaffetz said, as reported by Fox News.

"But there is direct evidence that Joe Biden himself — Joe and Jill Biden -- took direct benefit by using assets and things that were purchased based on the transaction that Hunter Biden was involved in and engaged with these foreign entities,” he added.

In October 2020, The New York Post revealed a series of emails from what is believed to be Hunter’s laptop that showed the younger Biden introducing his father, who was serving as vice president under Barack Obama at the time, to top Burisma executive Vadym Pozharskyi.

According to the emails cited by the report, the introduction came less than a year before Biden pressured Ukrainian officials to fire a state prosecutor who was investigating Burisma. At the time, the company was paying Hunter “as much as $50,000 per month” after he joined the Burisma board.

Other emails found on the laptop showed Hunter discussing potential business dealings with CEFC China, Beijing’s largest private energy company, according to The Post.

An investigation launched by Senate Republicans also found that the younger Biden received a $3.5 million wire from Elen Baturina, the widow of former Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov who was ousted over allegations of corruption, Daily Mail reported.

In June, Hunter allegedly used a racial slur while referring to Asian women in a January 2019 text message to his cousin.

The text message was allegedly recovered from the laptop that Hunter left at the Delaware computer repair shop.

Authorities are yet to find conclusive evidence that the laptop did belong to the first son.
