Social media users came in support of actor John Boyega after he slammed Disney for sidelining his character in the “Star Wars” universe. He made this bombshell revelation in a recent interview with GQ magazine.

As soon as the interview surfaced online, the ardent fans of the actor and the franchise shared their disappointment because the character was completely killed off in the highly successful series. Many users then claimed that Boyega spoke nothing but the truth.

One of the users wrote that the production giant lied to the fans by using the star for all the build-up and then completely screwing his character when the movie came out. He also alleged that Disney used him because everyone wanted to see a “black stormtrooper” becoming the Jedi.

“There’s a reason why during TFA (“The Force Awakens”) build-up Disney used John Boyega’s Finn with a lightsabre in most of the promo material. A young black stormtrooper becoming the hero Jedi? It’s what we wanted to see. It’s a better story. Instead, they screwed Boyega over and lied to the fans,” one user commented.

“Let's protect John Boyega at any costs,” wrote another user.

Similarly, another fan noted that Boyega is taking on Disney because it stifled creative control. The fan also urged everyone to not be mad at the “Imperial Dreams” star for showing the reality.

“If John Boyega wanted to drag Rian Johnson, he would’ve done that. He’s dragging a CORPORATION who stifles creative control and storylines. Don’t be mad at John; be mad at how the Mouse handles ‘Star Wars’ properly,” @alyssa_cogswell wrote.

Many users praised the actor for finally coming out with the truth and noted that the makers owe him an apology.

“John Boyega with the truth. As he states, he’s not sharing anything new. But I’m still glad he’s saying it,” one user wrote.

“‘Star Wars’ didn’t deserve John Boyega and they also owe him a million apologies,” another user commented.

“Anyways John Boyega is a king and DESERVES to speak his truth. If it was a white man people would be cheering him on but because he’s a dark-skin black man….” one user wrote.

In a recent interview with GQ, the 28-year-old actor revealed that he was the only actor to have a “unique experience of that franchise based on race.” He also stated that all the “nuance” was given to the white cast members such as Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley while the company did not know what to do with him and Kelly Marie Tran.

“They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let's be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I'm not exposing anything. I'm the only cast member who had their own unique experience of that franchise based on their race,” GQ quoted Boyega, as saying.

In the same interview, he gave a piece of advice to Disney, telling the company to not “market a black character” like he is an integral part of the film and then just “push them aside.”

“[But] what I would say to Disney is do not bring out a black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are and then have them pushed to the side. It's not good. I'll say it straight up,” Boyega said.
