A man in Tennessee was charged for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and throwing their 1-year-old son on the ground during a heated argument that turned violent.

Edwin Conner, 29, was arrested after the toddler was found with cuts and bruises Sunday. The brutal assault took place at the Airport Inn in Memphis.

Conner had reportedly punched the woman in the face and strangled her, following which she lost consciousness, the victim told the authorities, according to WREG News Channel 3.

The victim woke up to find Conner hitting her in the face before pulling her hair. The boyfriend was also accused of biting her head, back and arms.

After finally managing to escape from Conner, the victim rushed out of the room, and called the cops.

The police officers arrived at the hotel, but Conner had already escaped by then.

About three hours later, the woman called the police again to inform them Conner had returned to the hotel. She also told the cops she had tried to leave the hotel in her car, but Conner managed to get hold of their son from the backseat while the vehicle was in the parking lot.

The man then ran with his son across the parking lot and reached a fence. He dangled the toddler over the fence and threatened to drop the baby, the unidentified woman told the cops.

As the girlfriend approached him, Conner pulled the child back over the fence and threw him on the ground before fleeing the scene on foot.

When the officers responded, they found the child with cuts and bruises to his head and lips.

Conner was later located by officials and arrested in connection with the incident.

He was charged with aggravated assault, child abuse and child neglect or endangerment, evading arrest on foot, attempted first-degree murder and employment of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, according to Crime Online.

A similar incident was reported this month after an Indian mother killed her child by throwing the infant daughter from the third floor of a hospital. The woman claimed she was frustrated with her child's illness and committed the crime so that her daughter would no longer be in pain.
