Gotham Episode 12 Synopsis
Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will have to deal with his decision to kill Theo Galavan (James Frain, not picture) in the winter premiere of "Gotham." Fox

Gotham City will be frozen over when Fox's "Gotham" returns. Famous villain Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow) will make his debut and he promises several more weeks of winter on the Fox Batman prequel series. However, the newcomer won't be the only villain Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) has to worry about in episode 12, titled "Mr. Freeze."

According to the synopsis, Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) ends up taking the fall for Theo Galavan's (James Frain) murder. Gordon will have to hear from Penguin about not releasing him from jail after he and Gordon worked together to kill Theo. The promo video shows clips of Penguin in a straight jacket, which makes it look like Arkham Asylum will have a new inmate.

Speaking of Arkham Asylum, Dr. Hugo Strange (BD Wong) will be making his "Gotham" debut in episode 12. Strange is the psychiatrist of Arkham and he's also secretly conducting experiments on people in an underground facility known as Indian Hill. Strange is another Batman villain, who will eventually be responsible for creating some monsters, while also pushing current villains even further down the path of evil.

In an interview with TV Guide, showrunner Bruno Heller said that Strange is going to have a "profound effect on Penguin." Heller also teased "he'll make a new man of him in many ways."

Aside from having to stop new bad guys, Gordon will face difficulties both at work and in his personal life. Capt. Barnes (Michael Chiklis) will be suspicious of Gordon following the murder of Theo, and Gordon will be forced to lie about what really happened. His actions and lies could also eventually have an effect on things with girlfriend Lee (Morena Baccarin), who is pregnant with his child. Gordon will also be tasked at looking into "a body-snatching spree" by Mr. Freeze.
