Gwen Stefani never thought she could have another chance at love before she met Blake Shelton.

"God just put us together. It was one of those miracle situations where I didn't see it coming," Stefani said on Wednesday's episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show."

She continued, "I was like, 'I'm gonna wake up every day, I'm gonna have a coffee, I'm gonna take care of my kids and then I'm gonna go to bed. Like, I'm never gonna kiss anyone.' ...like, I thought my life was over. And then Blake Shelton's like, 'Hey. I'm Blake Shelton.'"

The pair met on "The Voice" in 2014 but both were married to other people. Shelton was married to fellow country music singer Miranda Lambert while the "Hollaback girl" singer was married to guitarist Gavin Rossdale.

Stefani and Rossdale divorced in 2016 while Shelton and Lambert also split in 2015. The 53-year-old singer and Shelton soon found love in each other's arms. They got married in July 2021 – six years after becoming a couple since their separation from their former marriage partners.

In the show, Stefani also revealed how she and the "God Gave Me You" singer keep their relationship strong despite their busy careers.

"Finding a best friend, someone that is, like, on the same plane when it comes to morals, or just the way you look at life, that's the dream," she explained. "Having someone that, we think the same about things yet we're so different, like, he's watching football and doing his stuff that he does and I'm, like, putting makeup on. We are so different yet we're so the same on so many levels."

Barrymore agreed and said, "That's the perfect balance, because opposites attract, expand each other's horizons, and also give a little room for individuality."

In Episode 5 of "The Voice Season 22," aired in October, the coaches quizzed the couple about their secret for a lasting relationship.

"I don't know what the secret is," Shelton said before Stefani quipped, "There is [no secret]. We just are best friends."

Also last month, Shelton announced he will be leaving "The Voice" after the current season.
