People have long been suspecting that Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) would eventually kill his wife Claire (Robin Wright), but what if things will play out differently? What if Claire is the one who will cause the destruction of her husband?

Wright recently talked to The Hollywood Reporter and revealed that Season 6 is brimming with surprises for fans, especially in the Underwood couple’s quest for power. “They are both capable of anything and that’s what’s so great about the mystery of it. They are both capable of anything! As producers on the show, Kevin and I play with that,” she said. “We just don’t want to give the audience what they expect. That is the trickery that we have to play with all of the time.”

As “House of Cards” heads to Season 6, Wright said her character will take on more and more challenges just like her husband. “All I can tell you is after Season 5, things are complicated and interesting for Frank. And things are going to become very interesting for Claire,” she teased.

In fact, Wright believes Claire would be an even better leader than Frank will ever be. But getting to the top would be difficult for her, and she would have to claw her way up there. “I would personally like it to be the greatest president we’ve ever had. How she gets there and achieves that is a whole other thing regarding the opera of the show,” she said.

Frank actually threatened Claire in Season 5, saying that he would kill her if she did not pull her weight. Showrunners Frank Pugliese and Melissa James Gibson said it’s not a threat that should be taken lightly because Frank won’t give a second thought about killing his wife.

“He’s done some terrible things. He is capable,” Pugliese said. “There might be a desire in both their parts to be able to do this alone, but I don’t know if they’re going to be able to do it without each other. Or maybe they will. That’s a question for season 6.”

“House of Cards” Season 5 premiered on Netflix on May 30.
