After Puerto Rico breathes a sigh of relief, Hurricane Dorian now appears on track to hit Florida in the coming days.

As of Thursday morning, Dorian has moved on from Puerto Rico and is continuing on its path towards the eastern coast of Florida. And coming out of the storm, Puerto Rico seems to have dodged the proverbial bullet with little damage caused from the storm. However, there has been one confirmed casualty from Dorian passing the island.

And with it now past Puerto Rico, Dorian is now on a direct path to the Florida coastline.

With it now back over the Atlantic, Dorian is expected to continue gathering strength as it moves northwest towards Florida. It is expected to stay in open waters until the weekend when parts of the storm begin to hit the Bahamas’ northwestern islands by late Saturday, early Sunday. It would subsequently hit the coastline of Florida by Labor Day on Monday and continue on until Tuesday. And to ensure residents are prepared and safe by the time the storm hits, Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency on Wednesday afternoon to urge Floridians to evacuate or ensure they were prepared for the storm.

The National Hurricane Center has also issued warnings that Dorian could gain enough strength to reach category 4 by the time it hits Florida.
