People have waited season after season for Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) to lose her virginity and finally have sex with someone she truly loves.

“Jane the Virgin” showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman has teased that Season 3 will be the right time to see that happen. “She does lose her virginity this year,” Urman told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s in the first half of the season, and it’s quite a big episode for us.”

But with her new husband Michael Cordero (Brett Dier) getting shot during the Season 2 finale, fans are worried that Jane will lose her virginity to someone else aside from Michael or another fan favorite, Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni)

“There’s obviously a lot of tension and question marks over that,” Urman admitted. “You’ll meet someone from Jane’s past, before she met Michael.”

Meanwhile, Rodriguez said that having sex will have a huge impact on Jane’s psyche. “How is [losing her virginity] going to play into her life, her psychology, how she views herself and how she views her intimacy?” said Rodriguez. “There’s an evolution.”

Aside from Jane losing her virginity and Michael surviving his attack, another thing that fans are eager to uncover in Season 3 is whether or not Xiomara Villanueva (Andrea Navedo) will keep her baby with Esteban Santiago (Keller Wortham).

Urman told The Hollywood Reporter that they will tackle that next season. “We always knew that we wanted Xo to not want to have a baby and then we were trying to figure out how we were going to be ending her story,” she said. “If she got pregnant with Rogelio's nemesis, it would be very shocking to her and to the audience and also she doesn't want to have a baby so that's definitely going to be something that we dive into.”

As for Petra Solano (Yael Grobglas), who was tricked by her sister Anezka and currently stuck in an immobile state, Urman did not say whether or not she would be saved. What she did say, however, was that they will delve into the twins’ past with their conniving mother Magda.

“We have a very elaborate backstory detailing how and when Magda contacted Anezka, but we ended up having too much story — and so we will have to unpack that in season 3,” she told Deadline.

“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
