Jennifer Aniston gave a heartbreaking response when asked why Brad Pitt wanted to get a divorce after their five-year marriage.

While speaking with Vanity Fair, the “Friends” star hinted at the fact that she didn’t want her marriage to the “Ad Astra” star to end. According to Aniston, she believes that couples need to work on their relationships especially in times of difficulty.

“What’s hard to sustain is some ideal that it’s perfect. That’s ridiculous. What’s fantastic about marriage is getting through those ebbs and flows with the same person, and looking across the room and saying, ‘I’m still here. And I still love you.’ You re-meet, reconnect,” she said.

After explaining her stand of marriages and keeping relationships work, Aniston then admitted that Pitt didn’t share the same mindset with her.

“That’s not Brad’s view of it. We believe in different things, I guess. You can’t force a relationship, even if it’s your view of how you would like it to be conducted. Obviously two people leave a relationship because there’s a different thought pattern happening,” she said.

“The Morning Show” star said that her goal is to try and achieve a very deep and committed relationship because that’s what she’s interested in. However, it is her partner’s prerogative if he wants in and out of their relationship.

Andrea Bendewald, one of Aniston’s friends said that she thinks the award-winning actress really wanted to work her marriage to Pitt out. Unfortunately, the “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” star didn’t know what he wanted at that time.

Meanwhile, over a decade has passed and Aniston and Pitt are already in a much better place at the moment. In fact, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Pitt apologized for all of his mistakes during his marriage to Aniston.

Pitt and Aniston are now good friends, and they recently reunited at the SAG Awards. There are rumors that the former couple will reunite at the Oscars next month.
