Kanye West Disses President Obama: 'He Has To Say Our Name To Be Cool' [VIDEO]
Kanye West apparently still isn't over the remarks President Obama made about him and Kim Kardashian in August. During an interview this week with New York radio station Hot 97, the 36-year-old rapper dissed the president, claiming Obama is trying to be cool and relevant by talking about him and his fiancee.
"The reason why Obama mention our name is cause we most relevant [sic]. He just saying that trying to be cool [sic]. Obama was supposed to the coolest person on the planet now he gotta say our names to be cool [sic]. It's like a feature, we feature in his interviews right now. They need a feature from us to get relevant,” West claimed.
In 2009, the president famously called West a "jacka--" after the rapper dissed Taylor Swift at the VMA Awards by barging onto the stage in protest when she was awarded the prize for Best Female Video. Obama was about to give an interview with CNBC and didn't know his comment about West was being taped. Then, this August, Obama publicly addressed West and his reality TV-star love Kardashian, stating that the Kardashians help foster an idea about wealth and fame that isn't beneficial to society’s youth.
In an interview with Amazon.com, the president said, "The American Dream involved some pretty basic stuff: a good job where you felt some security, a good education. ... People felt if they worked hard, they could get there. ... I don't think people went around saying to themselves, 'I need to have a 10,000-square-foot house' ..."
"I think there has also been a shift in culture. We weren't exposed to the things we didn't have in the same way that kids these days are. There was not that window into the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Kids weren't monitoring every day what Kim Kardashian was wearing or where Kanye West was going on vacation and thinking that somehow that was the mark of success."
Kardashian and West recently purchased an $11 million mansion in Bel Air, Calif. The 10,000-square-foot home is in a gated community, and the interior has been gutted so that Kardashian and West can create their dream home.
The 33-year-old curvaceous star, known for luxury indulgences, has even spent nearly $1 million on four gold-plated toilets, the Daily Mail reports.
Kardashian's rise to fame may have something to do with Obama bemoaning celebrity culture, as she first became known via a sex tape released in 2007 by singer Ray-J, her then boyfriend, featuring himself and Kim. The video certainly increased her visibility and has since become infamous.
That same year, she posed on the cover of "Playboy" and debuted on TV in her own reality series on E! along with her two sisters and parents. “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” which documents primarily her family life, has been one of the most-watched reality-TV shows in history.
