Kate Middleton may break a common tradition among the royals if and when she is crowned Queen of Britain.

According to Daily Express, the mom of two will be called Queen Catherine if her husband, Prince William, is crowned as king. When this happens, the now Duchess of Cambridge will become the most educated Queen in the history of the British monarchy. Additionally, she will be the only female to have a degree.

This is not the first time that Middleton has broken a royal tradition. In 2011, she became the oldest royal bride in British history to tie the knot. At that time, she was already 29.

But if Middleton has broken some royal traditions, she has also adhered to a few. For instance, since marrying Prince William, she has never worn bold-colored nail polish such as red. There is a rule that states the royalties can only wear light-color nail polish or skin tone ones.

The duchess also wears her wedding ring especially when she is out in the public and even though her husband doesn’t. According to The Telegraph, this is because men are not allowed to wear jewelry. But unlike him, Prince Charles wore one during his wedding to Princess Diana and Camilla Parker Bowles.

Prince William also announced before their wedding that he has decided to not wear his wedding ring especially in public.

“Wearing a wedding ring used to be uncommon for men but now it is quite accepted practice. That said, it really is a matter of personal choice and members of the Royal Family often chose to wear it with a signet ring on the little finger of their left hand,” David Miller, authority on etiquette and director of Debretts, said.

Diane Clehane, author of “Imagining Diana,” commended Prince William and Middleton for being modern royals. They “are confident in each other’s love for one another. Kate omitted the word ‘obey’ in her wedding vows, and William has opted not to wear a ring, which makes them like any millennial couples – intent on doing things their way,” she told Vogue.
