The Legends will be diving into the world of Vikings in next week’s installment of “Legends of Tomorrow.”

According to the synopsis for Season 3, episode 9 of the CW series, the Legends find themselves investigating an anachronism in a Viking settlement in the New World. The team soon discovers that the Norsemen are worshipping an artifact as their god and are surprised by the artifact’s origin.

In the trailer for the episode, Jax (Franz Drameh) mentions that they are “dealing with some kind of blue god.” But a promo photo for the episode reveals that it’s nothing but a time-displaced stuffed toy.

Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) appears in the episode as a Viking leader, so it’s likely that he’s the one who brought the plush toy to the Viking Age. With Damien showing up, Sara (Caity Lotz) is worried for the first time that they might need backup. Time Bureau’s Agent Sharpe (Jes Macallan) is seen fighting alongside the Legends in the trailer, so it’s possible that she’s one of the backups the Legends get.

Interestingly, promo photos for the episode also reveal that Leo (Wentworth Miller), aka Citizen Cold from Earth-X, is joining the Legends in their Viking journey. At the end of the “Crisis on Earth-X” crossover, Leo decides to stay in Earth-1 for the meantime, but it’s unclear how he ends up boarding the Waverider.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Sara is surprised to find a younger version of Stein (Graeme McComb) in the Viking community. It’s unclear how young Stein ends up in the Viking Age, but it’s possible that he, too, is an anachronism.

Meanwhile, Jax finds a loophole that could potentially change history. It’s unclear what this loophole is but because it’s a risk Jax is willing to take, then it might have something to do with reversing Stein’s (Victor Garber) death from the hands of the Earth-X Nazis.

Whatever the loophole is, it’s unlikely that Garber will come back to the show full-time, as he is set to return to Broadway to star in the Tony-winning revival of “Hello, Dolly!” Garber will replace David Hyde Pierce as Horace Vandergelder in the stage play, and his first show is scheduled on Jan. 20 next year.

“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 3, episode 9, titled “Beebo the God of War,” airs on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
