A woman in Otisfield, Maine, sexually assaulted a teenage boy several times at her home in April. She was charged with sexual assault last Friday (May 1).

According to an affidavit, the 16-year-old unidentified boy called 911 from outside 28-year-old Harley Fortier’s home on April 9 and said that he was raped by the woman. It was revealed that the teen had moved into Maine in April to live with a family member. However, he slept in the woman’s home as there was no room for him to sleep in his relative’s home. The teen and the accused were not related. It was also unclear if the two were neighbors.

The teen told the investigators that he slept in the woman’s bed. On April 4, the woman gave him alcohol and the following morning, he “woke up to being assaulted.” The teen added that he was also assaulted “one or two times” before. The boy said he told the woman “no” and also screamed at her to get off him, however, she didn’t listen. The woman instead threatened that if “he told anyone then she would tell people he raped her.” No adult was at the woman’s home when the incidents took place.

The accused was detained for questioning during which she told the officers that the two did sleep in the same bed but did not have sexual intercourse. Fortier’s friend, however, met the police and said that the accused had admitted to having sexual intercourse with the boy but he initiated it.

The accused was interviewed again. She denied the charge and claimed that the boy made the allegations against her because he wanted to go to his girlfriend’s house and she refused to drive him there.

Fortier was taken into custody on May 1 on two charges of gross sexual assault. She was released from the Oxford County Jail Monday and her bail prohibited her from contacting the teen or anyone 16 years old or younger. She was also not allowed to possess alcohol or illegal drugs. She was set to appear in court again on July 31.
