A 25-year-old man in the Indian state of Karnataka has approached authorities after private videos featuring him and his girlfriend were uploaded online without his knowledge.

The unnamed man, a BPO employee from the town of Austin, stayed at a hotel in Bengaluru with his girlfriend a few weeks ago, Times Now News reported, citing a complaint filed before Karnataka police's Cyber, Economic and Narcotics Crime division.

The couple's private moments were allegedly captured on camera and unknowingly uploaded on several pornographic websites, a report by the Indian Express said.

The faces of the complainant and his girlfriend were blurred in the videos, but the former was able to identify several physical attributes, such as the birthmark on his chest.

The complainant contacted police and filed a first information report on Jan. 24 after discovering the videos three days prior. Additionally, he sought to have the videos taken down from the internet.

Authorities have since registered a case under section 67A of India's Information Technology Act (punishment for publishing or transmitting materials containing sexually explicit acts, etc., in electronic form).

Police have also questioned the undisclosed hotel's staff.

It was unclear who filmed the private videos, but police believed they were not shot secretly.

"The videos were shot from various angles and an initial inquiry revealed that no secret cameras were used," an officer was quoted as saying.

In a similar story, a 19-year-old social media influencer in West Java, Indonesia sued her ex-boyfriend, who was also her manager, after he leaked their sex tapes on social media.

The 22-year-old former partner, identified only as GAS, posted at least four clips of him engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim, RM, on the latter's Instagram page on Nov. 19. Police claimed that acts were filmed at a photo studio back in July.

The clips, which were between 11 to 20 seconds long, were also sent to several WhatsApps chat groups on the same day. They received around 2,000 views before RM's Instagram account disappeared.

RM, a singer of the traditional Indonesian Dangdut genre, pressed charges against GAS after they were uploaded since they were allegedly filmed without her consent.

GAS was arrested and charged with disseminating pornographic content online — an act that is punishable by up to 12 years in prison under Indonesia's anti-pornography law and the Information and Electronic Transactions Act.

He also admitted to leaking the sex tapes out of spite as he was "disappointed" with RM's family.

"I deliberately made the videos because I was disappointed with her parents who have set my girlfriend up for marriage with another man," GAS, who had full access to RM's social media page as her manager, said. He also wanted people to know that he and RM have had sexual relations.

However, RM's lawyers claimed GAS had threatened to leak the videos if she objected to engaging in sexual intercourse with him and that he posted the clips online after RM asked for them to break up.
