A search was underway for a man who killed his mother and 6-year-old niece following an argument over food. The incident took place in Kenya on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as 33-year-old Mwanza Kaloki, and his mother, Ndinda Kaloki, started arguing over the food he had cooked. In a fit of rage, he hacked her to death using a machete and then killed his niece when she tried to protect her grandmother.

Recalling the incident, the man’s elder sister, who was at the scene, said, “He took a machete and a piece of wood from the kitchen and slashed our mother to death.” She added that the accused “has not been in good terms with us.”

The elder brother of the accused said he was at work when he was informed about the incident. He added that when he reached home, he found his daughter and mother lying in a pool of blood with “deep cuts on their heads.”

“My daughter was still breathing when I arrived. She was lying at my house’s corridor. I carried her and took her outside the house and laid her in our compound,” he said.

The accused remained at large as of Wednesday night and police were seeking public help to catch him.
