"Star Wars" fans get a bit of good news amid the COVID-19 lockdown as the final chapter of the trilogy, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” is launching on Disney+ two months earlier. The third installment arrives in the streaming service on May 4, coinciding with the famed “Star Wars Day.”

Awards Circuit reported that the latest "Star Wars" film has been already been lined up for a release to Disney’s streaming service in May. Another Star Wars property, “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian,” will arrive on the streaming platform as well, along with the series finale of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” The cartoon series depicting Anakin’s fights throughout the Clone Wars is coming to an end after seven seasons.

Aside from the movie and the series, Disney+ will also launch a week-long concept art takeover. Words from a press release said that the art will feature legendary work from artists like Ralph McQuarrie and the award-winning artist, production designer and author Dough Chiang.

As early as March, IGN SEA reported on several occasions some alternatives to watching movies in cinemas. Most of the suggestions have pointed towards a Netflix party — using the Netflix streaming service to bring together friends or family and watch a movie at the same time.

Several streaming services like Kast and Discord had been suggested, but there’s no reason not to include Disney+ in the mix. Like Netflix, Disney’s streaming service has a lot of options to choose from. If you’re not a Star Wars fan, there’s always other movie franchises, such as Marvel. There are also Disney’s classic films to consider.

“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” provided a conclusion to the Skywalker saga and brought closure to the story of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe (Oscar Isaac) as they finally defeated Emperor Palpatine’s (Ian McDiarmid) Empire for good, along with the redemption of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

The film also features Carrie Fisher (posthumous role), Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran and Billy Dee Williams, who reprised his original role of Lando Calrissian.
