Meghan Markle's father reportedly didn't really have heart surgery and only made it up as an excuse to not attend the royal wedding, according to a report.

Karen Ruiz, a journalist for Daily Mail, reported that a source close to Markle said Thomas Markle Sr.'s heart surgery is fake. Daily Mail reached out to Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center where a stent was reportedly fitted into Thomas. He mentioned the facility during his interview with ITV's "Good Morning Britain." However, the clinic said that "no such name" ever checked into their facility.

The publication contacted the clinic after an unidentified source close to the duchess told them that Thomas was never ill. Thomas reportedly just faked the emergency operation, so that he has a good reason not to attend Markle's big day after his photo scandal. It was also reportedly his way to gain the people's sympathy.

"The whole story about Meghan's father undergoing heart surgery was made up," the insider said. "He had to come up with a good enough reason not to attend her wedding and avoid any further embarrassment after those staged photos went public."

"The poor health story was his way of generating some compassion from the public, and taking the attention off those staged photos which were a complete embarrassment to Meghan and the royal family," the source continued. "It was really just such poor judgment on his part. Now everyone's feeling sorry for him. They shouldn't. He brought this upon himself and if he were truly sick Meghan would have made an effort to visit him. Don't feel sorry for him. If anything, feel sorry for Meghan."

The publication also noted that Thomas was spotted at a McDonald's drive-thru picking up two Happy Meals and a chocolate milkshake with whipped cream just two days after his alleged surgery. A few hours later, he was seen at a KFC picking up a bucket of fried chicken for dinner.

During his TV interview, Thomas said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were disappointed that he was not able to attend their royal wedding. He added that Markle cried, but they understand that his health is more important.

Just recently, Thomas made another interview with The Sun. According to him, Markle looked terrified after joining the Firm. An insider closed to the new royal revealed that Prince Harry and Markle are no longer happy with Thomas doing paid interviews.

"[They] are frustrated he keeps speaking to the tabloids and taking payment for interviews," a source told Entertainment Tonight.
