Michelle Obama is known for supporting various causes that focus on some of the palpable social issues today such as education, poverty and healthy living. Besides being a former First Lady of the United States, lawyer, community outreach worker, and the wife of ex-President Barack Obama, Michelle is also a writer, who released her memoir called “Becoming” in 2018.

Recently, Michelle received praises anew after she announced that more than $500,000 in proceeds from her bestselling book will be donated to Girls Opportunity Alliance. For starters, the said campaign is part of The Obama Foundation, which Barack and Michelle set up last year, to make sure more girls will have access to education.

“I’ve always thought of helping others as a responsibility,” Michelle Obama said in a statement on Tuesday. “This duty of giving back is what my parents and grandparents taught me, and it’s a value I’ve tried to live by my entire life — because it’s not enough just to make your way through life, thinking only of yourself,” she went on.

Michelle even took the campaign on social media. “#GivingTuesday is a reminder of how important it is to give back to one another. I hope you’ll consider joining me to give what you can to @girlsalliance projects, because every small donation has the power to make a difference for girls around the world: http://gofundme.com/girlsopportunityalliance,” she posted on Twitter.

The post gained several reactions of netizens. Supporters of the former FLOTUS praised her for continuing her great causes even after she and her family moved out of the White House. “Thankful for how much you do for us even after office. Miss you. -young moderate Republican,” one netizen wrote in the comment section.

“Awesome Mrs. Obama, continue with help for girls stay blessed and wonderful day,” Kim Sawyer said. “You are our example of how to be a woman today,” Katie Beacock stated. “Thank you M. I MISS YOU AND YOUR HUBBY SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!” Vicci Botich commented.

A number of netizens also took the opportunity to urge Michelle Obama to enter the 2020 presidential race. “You are the only one that could be President,” Toto Miranda wrote. “Michelle Obama, president please!!!” Nikkita Robles said. “Please, can you be president? Pleeeeeeese!” Tony Schaefer stated. Michelle has yet to comment on these remarks.

Though a lot of supporters have been encouraging Michelle Obama to run for president in 2020, the ex-FLOTUS already revealed that she is not interested in politics. "Just because I gave a good speech, I'm smart and intelligent doesn't mean I should be the next president. That's not how we should pick the president. That’s been our problem. We're very shortsighted about how we think about selecting the commander in chief,” she said during an interview on Today.
