Miss World Pictures 2016: Photos Of Miss Puerto Rico Winner Stephanie Del Valle, Runner-Ups And Event

Stephanie Del Valle won the coveted title of Miss World while competing as Miss Puerto Rico against more than 100 other women Sunday night. The beauty pageant's 66th annual installment took place at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland, and was broadcast live around the world.

Billions of viewers were expected to tune in to watch pageant hopefuls partake in Q&As, activities and challenges under categories like Multimedia, Sports and Top Model, among others. The second runner-up for 2016 was Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez of the Dominican Republic and the third runner-up was Natasha Mannuela of Indonesia, Reuters reported Monday.

Miss World’s 2015 winner was Spain’s Mireia Lalaguna, who crowned Miss Del Valle after her win.

Miss Puerto Rico’s win marked the second time the U.S. territory has taken a Miss World title, following Wilnelia Merced, who won the crown in 1975.

Del Valle, 19, is a law and communications student studying at Pace University. She is fluent in Spanish, English and French, according to her bio on the Miss World website.

“I like to have options and I have a solid career plan,” Del Valle had said of her future ambitions in life. “I am already registered for a double major at Pace University (Law and Communications) while pursuing my lifelong inclination to follow a career in Entertainment during my spare time. Presently, I am training in all three disciplines hoping that the effort, passion and dedication will direct me to a finer resolution.”

In addition, the other top five finalists of the Miss Universe 2016 pageant included Catriona Elisa Gray from the Philippines and Evelyn Njambi Thungu from Kenya. Fast Track winners that were recognized for the five special categories included Mongolia in the Talent category, the Cook Islands for Sports, the Philippines for Multimedia, Indonesia for the Beauty with a Purpose category and China PR for Top Model.
