“Happy Days” actor and Donald Trump supporter Scott Baio released a message Thursday on Twitter that had many wondering exactly what he was doing in arts and crafts store Michael’s.

Baio’s tweet showed a display of candles that had been rearranged to say, “Trump is still your president.” The photo of the candles was accompanied with the caption, “Fun times at Michael’s” and “God bless President Trump and God bless America” as well as several American flag emojis.

Baio’s tweet caught the attention of Twitter and came with some harsh backlash from the social media platform’s users.

One Twitter user accused the actor of working at Michael’s, saying, “Glad to see you finally found work,” while another user also wanted to know how his new job at the retailer was going?

Another Twitter user called out Baio as his former “Happy Days” character and referred to a catchphrase often said by Fonzie on the sitcom that aired from 1974 to 1984.

Another Twitter user made mention that Joe Biden has been named president-elect, saying that Trump is not president for “much longer.”

Still another user on Twitter just wanted Baio to “settle down.”

But some Twitter users were confused that Baio had decided to make the pro-Trump display at Michael’s rather than its arts and crafts competitor Hobby Lobby as one poster wondered, “should he be at Hobby Lobby, not Michael’s?”

Hobby Lobby has faced its share of backlash over the years. Most recently, social media called for a boycott of the retailer over a pro-Trump display that read “USA Vote Trump.”

The image, which was posted in September on the anti-Trump Lincoln Project Supporters Unite’s social media account, sparked the hashtag #BoycottHobbyLobby to trend on Twitter. It was unknown if Hobby Lobby or a customer had arranged the display.

However, it was not the first time that Hobby Lobby faced criticism. As the coronavirus pandemic heightened, the company made the decision to remain open during stay-at-home orders, claiming it was an essential business that sold home office and face mask supplies.

CEO David Green issued a letter to employees that said his wife had received a message from God that stores should remain open during the pandemic.

The letter from Green to his staff, which was posted to social media, read in part, “While we do not know for certain what the future holds, or how long this disruption will last, we can all rest in knowing that God is in control. The company's leaders are doing all they can to balance the need to keep the company strong and the need of employees. To help ensure our company remains strong and prepared to once again when this passes, we may all have to 'tighten our belts' over the near future.”

Law enforcement eventually forced Hobby Lobby to temporarily close its doors until lockdown orders eased in states across the U.S.

Hobby Lobby also came under fire in 2014 after it won a Supreme Court case, which allowed it to deny access to birth control to its workers, claiming was a religious conflict.

Baio’s Michael’s tweet was also recognized by President Trump, who responded by saying, “Thank you Scott, and stay tuned. You are terrific!”
