KEY POINTS

  • "Evercore Heroes" is PvE game with competitive elements
  • The game is inspired by various ARPGs, MOBAs and MMOs
  • "Evercore Heroes" will release as a free-to-play game

A new take on the competitive multiplayer gaming sphere is coming soon, and it's being made by some of the people behind some of gaming's best titles.

"Evercore Heroes" is labeled as a "competitive PvE" game by its developer, Vela Games, which comprises former Riot Games and Electronic Arts developers. It's somewhere between an MMO, MOBA and ARPG in terms of gameplay style, but the devs made sure to inject some unique twists into it.

The game will have four teams of four players compete in a race to finish PvE objectives. In each session, teams have to gather a resource called Luum in order to gain access to a boss monster's domain. Luum is earned by completing objectives around a shared map.

Objectives can only be completed once per session, which means players will also have to race against each other for these as well. Successful completion also grants powerful rewards that further grant teams an edge against everyone else.

Once the boss domain is breached, all teams will engage the final enemy simultaneously in a multi-phased fight. Power through the boss' skill-based challenges to secure victory.

Evercore Heroes - Defense
Players must defend their base from monsters in order to stay in the fight Vela Games

It won't always be a full-throttle sprint to the boss room, however. Players will also have to protect their team's Evercore from waves of invading monsters. Destruction of this key structure will result in the team getting knocked out of the match entirely.

As implied above, matches in "Evercore Heroes" are session-based. Character XP and Gold will get reset after every game, similar to how "League of Legends" works. However, players will be able to modify and earn new skills between matches to further tailor a specific hero's playstyle to their liking.

So far, the game is set to have 20 unique heroes on launch, all of them featuring bright and colorful designs. There's no information regarding any of these characters just yet, but it's safe to assume that the game will have the typical trinity of tank, DPS and support classes present in other RPGs.

"Evercore Heroes" will release sometime in 2023 as a free-to-play game. Interested gamers can help the dev team out by signing up for the pre-alpha version here.
