  • Cosmetic doctors are receiving tons of requests for elective surgeries
  • Patients request for Botox, fillers, facelift, and rhinoplasty
  • One doctor revealed they were fully-booked within three hours from opening

Plastic surgeons in New York are predicting a busy summer after being inundated by calls from individuals requesting facelift and rhinoplasty procedures, as well as Botox and fillers. This was after coronavirus lockdown measures gradually eased up, allowing medical offices that perform elective surgeries to open their doors, according to The Post.

A Massive Backlog

Medical practitioners who perform elective surgeries have been reporting a massive backlog since they resumed operations. While their offices in prime locations like Manhattan remained closed, their offices in other locations in the state of New York were being swamped with requests for various cosmetic procedures.

Such was the case of Dr. Jon Turk when he opened his Woodbury location recently because his Manhattan office is still closed. As soon as people became aware of the new location, the telephone at his new office has been ringing off the hook. Dr. Turk is a highly-credentialed plastic surgeon in New York with a specialization in aesthetic facial plastic surgery and has been voted one of the state’s top surgeons for many years in a row.

He told The Post they have a massive backlog right now and are working extended hours to cope. “People are doing more at one time because they don’t want to come back as often. I’m right off the LIE, so people leaving the city for the Hamptons make a stop on their way out East,” Dr. Turk said.

Bracing For The Crush

The situation with Dr. Turk’s office at Woodbury is enough to make Dr. Howard Sobel brace for the crush when he reopens his offices this week. He is the owner and founder of Sobel Skin, a private medical practice specializing in aesthetic medicine, cosmetic surgery, and dermatology on Park Avenue in Manhattan, NYC.

He said that as soon as they received a tentative schedule from the office of Gov. Cuomo for plastic surgeons like him to reopen, his office immediately sent out emails to their existing patients. “Within three hours, we were fully booked through July,” Dr. Sobel said.

A Busy Summer

Dr. Sobel added that since the lockdown came into effect, people have been calling in huge and persistent numbers. He said they wanted to know if he could provide them a special service of Botox and filler procedures, saying they would not tell anyone.

The plastic surgeon, however, gently declined them all saying that even his family members could not get fillers, Botox, or anything else during that time. With his receipt of the go-signal from the governor’s office to reopen, Dr. Sobel is thinking of not getting a vacation this summer.
