Only a handful of contenders have acquired players ahead of Tuesday's NFL trade deadline. A team from the NFC East could join that group and make a trade within the next 48 hours.

The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are both interested in trading for a wide receiver, according to reports. Whether or not a deal gets done is another matter.

Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks appears to be available for the right price. Denver Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy has also been in trade rumors.

Cooks is likely to stay put because of Houston's asking price and his $18 million guaranteed salary for the 2023 season. Denver might decide to hold onto Jeudy after the team's Week 8 win. The Broncos entered the season with championship aspirations, though a 3-5 record puts Denver 1.5 games out of the AFC playoff picture.

The Giants have interest in Jeudy, according to multiple reports. Jeudy has 30 receptions for 449 yards and three scores this season. He would immediately become New York's best receiver. Darius Slayton leads the Giants with 232 receiving yards.

Kenny Golladay, signed two seasons ago to be the team's No.1 receiver, only has two catches in 2022. Former first-round pick Kadarius Toney was unable to stay on the field, and the Giants traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Daniel Jones was limited to 176 passing yards in the Giants' Week 8 loss against the Seattle Seahawks. Jones hasn't thrown for more than 217 yards in any game this season.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones acknowledged that the team could improve its receiving corps. No Dallas player has recorded 100 receiving yards in a single game this season. The Cowboys rank 24th in total offense.

There are multiple reasons to believe that Dallas' offense will improve, even without a trade. The Cowboys scored a season-high 49 points in Sunday's win over the Chicago Bears. It was Dak Prescott's second start back from thumb surgery. Michael Gallup had a season-high 49 yards in the contest as he continues his comeback from a torn ACL.

Receiver James Washington could make his Cowboys debut soon after suffering a foot injury in training camp. CeeDee Lamb leads Dallas with 556 receiving yards.

The Cowboys and Giants are both 6-2 and trail the Philadelphia Eagles by 1.5 games for first place in the NFC East.

The San Francisco 49ers acquired Christian McCaffrey in the biggest deal of the deadline. The Chicago Bears traded Roquan Smith to the Baltimore Ravens for two draft picks Monday.
