Parents Keep 4-Year-Old Daughter’s Body At Home For Days, Pray For Her Resurgence

The body of a four-year-old girl, who died due to an illness, was kept at home for three days by her parents in a hope that she will return to life. The incident took place in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Police said the unidentified girl was rushed to a local hospital after she complained of severe stomach ache and had bouts of vomiting. The doctors gave her preliminary treatment and asked her parents to take the girl to a district hospital. However, the parents instead took the girl to a nearby private hospital where she died the following morning during treatment.

The girl’s body was brought home the same afternoon and two priests were called to the place. The priests asked the parents to offer prayers and assured them this would bring her back to life. The parents followed the suggestion and offered prayers in the presence of the body at home for the next three days. On Sunday, a neighbor informed the police about it.

A team of officers immediately arrived at the home and made the couple understand that their daughter was dead and could not be brought back to life. The family eventually listened to the officers and performed the last rites Sunday evening.
