Prince Charles dated a string of women before marrying his one true love, Camilla Parker Bowles.

The Prince of Wales is now happily married to the Duchess of Cornwall. The couple dated first, but had to split since the royal family didn't approve of Camilla. As a result, Prince Charles dated a number of women and endured a failed marriage with Princess Diana, though he still ended up with Camilla in the end.

Among the ladies Prince Charles dated was Lady Dale Tyron. Prince Charles once described Lady Tyron as "the only woman who understood me" (via Daily Star). They had been spotted enjoying fly fishing together. Lady Dale Tyron was once the chairman of mental health charity SANE. She died in 1997 after a string of health problems.

Lady Jane Wellesley was widely tipped to be the future queen when she was spotted going out with the heir to the throne in 1973 until 1974. However, she reportedly struggled with the attention that came along with dating a royal.

"Do you honestly believe I want to be Queen?" she responded when asked why their romance didn't work.

However, according to royal biographer Christopher Wilson on Netflix's "Royal House of Windsor," Lady Jane backed out because she realized that she was living in Camilla's shadow. She knew that Prince Charles still loved his ex.

"Any pretty woman who was around wanted to be seen on the arm of the Prince of Wales," Wilson said. "But pretty soon, they came to the realisation of what it was like to live with a man who was in love with somebody else."

"And Lady Jane Wellesley was an early example of that, and everybody looked to her as the new Princess of Wales but she saw very early on the shadow of Camilla," Wilson continued.

Prince Charles also dated Amanda Knatchbull after being set up by his uncle Lord Mountbatten. He was convinced that they would make a great pair, so the Duke of Cornwall proposed. Unfortunately, she turned the first-in-line to the throne when she said "no."

Prince Charles also went out with Princess Diana's sister, Lady Sarah Spencer. However, their romance was short-lived as the royal showed interest in her younger sister.

"I introduced them. I'm Cupid," Lady Sarah said about Prince Charles and Princess Diana.

Prince Charles ended up marrying Princess Diana. However, their marriage didn't work as according to the princess "there were three of us in this marriage, so it's a bit crowded" implying the Prince of Wales and Camilla's affair.

Prince Chares and Princess Diana got divorced. The prince eventually got back with Camilla and they married on April 9, 2005, in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall.
