  • Prince Harry wanted to "break the cycle" for his son Archie and soon-to-be-born daughter

Prince Harry wants to follow a different parenting approach from what his dad, Prince Charles, used on him and his brother, Prince William, a report has revealed.

Prince Harry and Prince William were born with a silver spoon in the mouth as they were raised in a royal household. However, the members of the royal family also live in a fishbowl where their behavior is constantly scrutinized, and it is this tradition that Prince Harry decided to break for his own kids.

"Isn’t life about breaking the cycle," he told Dax Shepard in an episode of "Armchair Expert" podcast Thursday.

"There’s no blame. I don’t think anyone should be pointing the finger and blaming anyone. Certainly, when it comes to parenting, if I’ve experienced some form of pain and suffering because of the pain and suffering that perhaps my father or parents suffered. I’m gonna make sure I break that cycle so that I don’t pass it on."

Prince Harry noted that "a lot of genetic pain and suffering gets passed on anyway." Meghan Markle's husband is careful enough to make sure that the emotional baggage won't reach his kids.

Prince Harry said his own awareness about his father's life helped him raise his and Markle's firstborn differently. According to the Duke of Sussex, he suddenly started to "piece it all together" and that was among the reasons they decided to leave his home country to settle in the U.S.

"I know this about his life. I also know that it’s connected to his parents, so that means that he’s treating me the way that he was treated, which means how can we change that for my kids?" Prince Harry explained.

"Here I am. I now moved my whole family to the U.S. That wasn’t the plan. But sometimes you’ve got to make decisions and put your family first and mental health first."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very private and protective of their son. They have already made it clear in the past that they do not want their children to be raised under the royal spotlight.

Markle was last spotted with their son Archie in April after Prince Harry returned from the U.K. following Prince Philip’s funeral. The mother and son’s sighting raised some eyebrows because their photos were published a day before Prince Louis’ third birthday. Some accused the duchess of trying to upstage Prince William and Kate Middleton’s youngest child.
